UPDATE FROM THE OP:

Apparently, the groom's brother and his wife stewed over this request for awhile and decided THEY. COULD NOT. EVEN. They called the groom and demanded that the he and the bride call everyone and tell them "Just kidding! That was all a hallucination! I'm not a crazy bridezilla!" I'm exaggerating but I'm pretty sure they were not very diplomatic.

The bride was very offended and got in a fight with the groom over it. She now says "it was JUST A SUGGESTION AND whatever, wear whatever the hell you want!!"

And I was not involved in any of this nonsense drama whatsoever! WIN!

If only people would just vent anonymously on the internet and leave it at that the world would be a more peaceful place.

I agree it's pretty annoying but when it comes down to it - is it more important to ignore it or to keep the peace? A good friend of mine, otherwise pretty laid back, wants all of her friends (there's no bridal party) to wear all white to her wedding. In theory it's not the worst idea, but I don't really want to shell out cash for a white dress that I'm sure I won't wear again. Not only do I not like wearing white dresses (many are somewhat see through, you have to be really careful and might also have to buy new undergarmets), but then you also have to be careful not to spill on it or be careful of others at a wedding carrying around and dancing with drinks. Black is one thing, but I don't really know anyone who has a wedding appropriate white dress available. Just commiserating.

navy is a weird color to want people to wear, regardless of your stance on dictating colors.

At the very least, wear a navy blazer with a neutral skirt. Or a navy suit. She's not asking you to wear chartreuse.

PP here. Nope. I am not a wedding person. And I am completely repulsed by bridezillas. It's the level of anger expressed over having to wear a Navy dress that strikes me as excessive. It will make bride happy and cost you little. If other demands are excessive then I understand that. But this one is, again, annoying and worthy of annoyance. But not vitriol.

Maybe. But I think that taking a stand against these ridiculous entitled brides and grooms isn't unreasonable. Usually the people who want you to wear a certain color also want you to do about a hundred other things that are expensive and inconvenient for guests - to the point that guests are no longer really happy for the bride and groom. At least that's my experience. You might be a nicer and more accommodating/more wedding-oriented person than I am.

Go ahead and gripe about it for a minute to your best friend or husband and then get over it and keep it moving. i have been asked to wear a certain color before. I did not love it. It was not my style. But to be so worked up about it as to stage a coup, is extreme.

This is just the beginning, by the way. This is going to be one hell of a long engagement, full of self centered demands and oddball requests, all in the name of "our special day."

I can see via my crystal ball that this cousin will have the most complicated, self absorbed wedding showers, bridesmaids' shopping trips and weekends away, save the date cards, groomsmen gatherings...it all will culminate in an exhausting, over planned wedding weekend.
