Most of the "little Ivies" are really preppy. Amherst, Conn College, Hamilton, Bates, Trinity and to a degree Williams.

My D interview at Conn College and Amherst and we both noticed how preppy everyone appeared, which she liked.

Hampden-Sydney College! It is the real deal not some J crew want-a-be prep. Old school preppy!!!

J Crew U is a term that is used for scores of colleges.

There's all kinds of preps. Reed attracts the prepsters who pretend to be uninterested in money and fashion

Reed? Preppy? Even in 1980 that wasn't true. Is it possible that The Preppy Handbook was not actually the authority on all things preppy?

I know it's remote and that you have to WANT it. I went there. I was just amused by the thought of Muffy and Biff being horrified by Williamstown. Actually, though, there are plenty of preppy types at Williams, but they're not of the PYG/Vineyard Vines variety.

I think of Vineyard Vines as ersatz prep! It says right on their website "Preppy Men's Clothing" Geeze. Why not say "Classy Men's Clothing"? Just as disgraceful in the true prep world.

MY DS wants remote. He loves it. We're looking at Wiliams for that reason. I'm glad to hear that it's not too preppy. DS is at private school but isn't even remotely preppy. He just likes the outdoors and is an excellent student, and wants to be around other smart kids. But if your kid wants urban, Williams is going to kill him/her. It's very pretty, though. I don't think I could stand it, but I'm a NYC gal. I always thought of it as very preppy, though.

Most state schools aren't as preppy as private ones. Miami of Ohio is a public school. Odd that it would be preppy.
