It's great if your kids want to go to an expensive Ivy. Pretty sure my National Merit Scholar could have gotten into any school she chose. She chose a full ride at University of Florida. Ivys and expensive schools great, but state schools can offer a oath to success as well.


I find this salary pretty incredible for a 1st year out of college student in Charleston. What job is he doing?


He works in the tech field. He was in the Chinese Flagship program at Ole Miss. That helped a lot.


Did he minor in puffing his salary, or were the paychecks issued in Confederate Dollars? No one who has ever even visited Mississippi makes that as a starting salary. Sorry; false.

Well, she is a teacher in Alexandria and lives in DC. She grew up living all over the US and in three different overseas countries. So I would say she has many, many friends "of color". But hey, continue to live in ignorance if it makes you feel superior to others.

That's not a Confederate flag. It's not even a university flag, so don't put that on the university. How many other Southern state flags have some Confederate motif in their state flags?

Massachusetts has an Indian on theirs, yet the Puritan fathers of Massachusetts Bay Colony wiped the Wampanoag from this continent in King Phillips War. It’s not just ignorance. It’s stupidity. Virtually any discussion of a school,in the Deep South falls quickly into the regional and class prejudices of the people on this board, many of whom consider themselves open-minded progressive types.
