The Notties can apply for admission at the beginning of the month and if they've changed their clothing or behavior they might be accepted. They are then on probation for a twelve month period and if at any time during that period they are caught talking to a "Nottie" or displaying behavior, not wearing Lilly or Tory, they can be expelled or have to start the process over again. It's brutal.

In Washington, very few private schools have uniforms. Many have dress codes, and a few may have a uniform for middle school only (Potomac, NCS). In New York, most privabte schools do have uniforms.
Of course, all the Catholc schools have uniforms.

Making girls include other girls on the playground or in the lunch room is one thing, but it does not really make a girl truly feel like she is part of any group. I think really smart girls have learned to use this form of "bullying" and they rarely get caught.
+1

They need to reconsider that. Huge issue at a school of that level.
That level? You mean GDS, Sidwell, Maret - they all have uniforms? I did not realize that.
Private schools should wear uniforms. I think it does curb bullying, especially in girls. So many different economic backgrounds. Uniforms work best.
Then go to a school with uniforms. Interestingly, the school that I attended that had them had the meanest girls. Uniforms don't solve the problem. The admin has to create the right no tolerance atmosphere, uniforms or no uniforms.
My child does go to a school with uniforms. I honestly did realize there are ones that do not have them. You don't have to be rude. All the ones we looked at did so this is new to me. And I don't think there is much bullying at all in our school. Isn't this the main reason public schools go uniform? Decrease bullying and increase test scores?

I thought a troll was someone who faked things to see how people react, like asking whether they should vacation in the amazon rainforest or London with their infant.
What you meant was that poster said something deliberately offensive.
Though reading 10:17, it's totally a legitimate question - what do parents of bullies think? I too wonder if they secretly think their kids are the cream of the crop and demonstrating early leadership skills.

DD attended a K-6 that had uniforms, and I have do agree that uniforms do NOT cut down on the bullying.
BTW, 10:17 is a obviously a troll. Ignore it.
There is no 10:17 on this entire thread. And troll doesn't mean someone saying something you disagree with.
