I hope you people are pro-lifers and against gay marriage. Otherwise, how do you explain your inconsistent position that in some cases, people should not impose their views on you and in other cases, you have the right to impose your views on others?
(I am pro-choice, in favor of gay marriage, a big proponent of breast feeding and think it is great to have a "no kids" restaurant...)

Obnoxious parents are an outrage. OP, let me know what you need in order to put this in place. I have all the resources. Plus, no determined smug would make it past the first entrance door.
The determined smugs don't have the resources because they are too busy being themselves and trying to waste everyone else's time. Not gonna happen.

Having read enough threads on this board, I have heard the following:
1. Kids are kids and they are going to be disruptive.
2. There is nothing I as a parent can do to prevent it.
3. My kids have a right to behave how they behave.
If everyone believed they had an obligation to ensure that their families did not disrupt the atmosphere, I would be against it. But since enough parents actually believe the above statements, a restaurant owner has a right to exclude them.
I say this as a parent who is careful about picking restaurants, reservation times, and has on more than one occasion walked out leaving cash and unfinished dinner on a restaurant table.
1. Kids are kids and they are going to be disruptive.

I am one of those whose life revolves around my kids more than it should. I don't take overnight trips with friends, our weekends are filled with their social activities, I spend inordinate amounts of time planning their activities, etc.
And even *I* understand the point of having a place where kids can't go. Not only for childless people but also people with kids who want a break from them. What is the outrage? You have to have your kids with you 24/7? And if that's true, no one is forcing you to go to this restaurant. Just don't go to it. You have a preference for kid friendly places, other people do not. Why try to force your preferences on others? If I don't like Mexican food, should I try to get Mexican food joints shut down?
(And we do bring our kids to expensive restaurants where they are usually the only kids but I am extremely aware of their behavior. And if they happen to be having a bad night, we leave. We do not think it is our privilege to bother others. If more parents felt this way, this restaurant probably wouldn't feel the need to institute this type of policy but unfortunately, that is not reality.)

I don't think I would go very often. I don't have some principled objection to it, but I prefer to have dinner with my kid most of the time (he's old enough to sit still and have a conversation). My husband and I go out alone rarely, maybe once a month if that, and sushi isn't a big favorite of his.
