Are people serious when they include Little Folks in the list of top 10 preschools? By most accounts, including personal experience, LFS is nothing but glorified day care and an extension of the Georgetown play groups.

Yes--I'm curious too, and does anyone have any general numbers around these schools? (e.g., Preschool X sent X number of kids to Elementary School Z, etc.)?

River School goes until 3rd grade, so some parents worry it will be harder to get into a private school if they don;t get in for K. That's why parents worry about it at River. But, from what families have told me, their kids have had no problem getting into schools after...

When they refer to preschool exmissions, this would be relevant to people who want to send their kids to private schools after preschool. Some preschools are more successful than others in getting their kids into schools like Sidwell, Norwood, WES, GDS, Beauvoir, etc. I don't think this information is made public, so I think you would have to ask the school directly.

There are so many great preschools in this area that it seems quite impossible to pigeon hole them into any kind of top ten order. That would be very unfair to many schools. You couldn't possibly lump religious schools, Montessori schools, traditional schools together.

The most important thing to do is to check out schools and find the school that is right for your family. There are great schools in each category. I am partial to Montessori schools and my favorite is the Montessori School of Chevy Chase because they have such a wide choice of programs available including French.

However, if you are not looking specifically for Montessori, there are some great schools as well.
