I agree, there are many parents who go through the whole admission process to figure out where their kid stands; there are also many who will not do so because of child care or transportation/commute issues; and finally there are many who are not aware that such programs exist or the benefit of going to these centers.

I understand why parents want to try their child's ability. Why not? When their child is accepted, they might change their mind - and vice versa.
