I'm so sorry. I've also struggled with this, even though my depression issues are under control. It takes time and I finally just expressed my frustration to one of them and explained that I had a bad spell, I never abused substances and I'm in a good place now. She spread the word and things got somewhat better.

They are often excellent at defusing situations or providing suggested solutions. They are not your enemies. They don't want neighbor conflicts to turn into assaults and homicides, which is not infrequent, so they are motivated to help if you approach them as helpers, not hostile invaders.
