My kids have a great time at Christmas, even without Santa.
I am not sorry that I don't lie to my kids about reality. Your kids are going to realize eventually that the people they trust most -- their parents -- are huge liars, who are perfectly happy telling them whatever the parents think is best, regardless of whether it's true or not. Your kids can't trust you.
Too bad for them.

yep, and so are their parents.
A Jewish kid told my DD that her parents said that Santa, the Tooth Fairy, and Leprachauns weren't real. My DD shrugged it off and told me that it was too bad she didn't believe in Santa because she definitely wouldn't be getting any presents from him. I think some of the kids that like to spoil the fun for others are doing it because they are the type that don't like others to have fun if they can't have fun. Sad, but they often grow up to be people that can't dream.

Any my kids don't believe in Santa and they still get presents so telling your child that kids who don't believe in Santa won't get presents is another lie that will soon be challenged when they find out that yep, actually other kids got presents too.

That's a great kid you're raising there.
Are you as big a loudmouth as your kid? Is that where little "Max" gets it from?
Anonymous wrote:For god's sake. First grade is when it happens. Max wasn't saying this to dispel your daughter's innocence. This is a very serious conversation among first graders, and they really are concerned about the truth.
This will be the first of many truths you can't protect her from. Get over it.
