I grew up in the South and the Midwest.

Totally common to do sleepovers. They were really fun and some of my best memories. Everybody even had brothers -- and fathers! Gasp!

No one was molested.

Ack-this story upsets me, but it sucks because this is my dad's name and I hate that it comes up in this context.

PP, we have a common name, in our country, so if one does a certain kind of search, it looks like related, but we are not. I think this happens with many different kinds of names. They may sound "unusual" to most people here, if they are not educated about the name. Not everything is found or explained on line. Don't worry about it. You have more recourse if you are mistaken.


Oh, I know it's not an uncommon name. It just sucks that my dad shares a name with this creep.

Pennsylvania - sleepovers all the time when growing up. Normal and expected. Just part of the american culture growing up.

Grew up in NYC and it was definitely normal.

Did it several times when I was a kid and did it very often as a HS teen.

Part of it is that we cant drive/travel on Friday night, so I would go stay with my friends who didnt live in walking distance from Friday after school until Sat night (sometimes even Sunday).

Even as adults, we have friends stay with us for Shabbat as well.

Just a thought: if you think having brothers is "bad", could it be that you are from a culture that values boys more than girls? Maybe you have no boys, so you are jealous? Maybe deflecting makes you feel better - but in reality, exacerbates your problems? You might want to address your own insecurities.
