Or a power pole collapses because the ground gets so saturated that the foundation of the pole gets loose enough for the gale-force winds to knock it down, or a large object is blown into a line, pole or tree that knocks the line out, or a damage to a substation, or a water main break causes the power company to shut down power in the affected area, or...
There are many reasons for power outages, trees only being one (probably the most likely, but definitely far from the only reason).
