not normal?
I leave at 6 - am at work by 6:30/6:50.
I work PT, leave, do both pick ups (preschool and elementary). and have time to work on my consulting gigs.
What's NOT to love?

Anonymous wrote:It shocks me how the "city" people think they are so (whatever - fill it in here), yet so smug about their choices, yet so closed minded about other people having fewer choices. Keep it to yourself really, we don't care.
OP, I hear you. We had to make the same sacrifices, but finally sucked it up and moved closer "in" because the commute only became worse. You may have to come to that decision. It really was worth it. We have a yard and other things we did not have before, ironically. You are not alone. As PP said, we are all in the same boat. Don't let anyone tell you they have it perfect, because they are lying.
Anonymous wrote: Why is DC always the center? A commute is a commute. Would you be saying the same thing about those commuting to Baltimore? My husband does this each day and is out of the house before I am.

We might reconsider once the kids are done with school. But that will take some time
Why'd your kids need a garage?

yep, living in the city is just horrible... i walk over at 5:30 every day, do my pick up, we drive home in less than 20 min., talk about what we did that day, make some dinner, might even have time for a walk around the block, bath, books, and down around 8:30... and yes, I actually see them in the morning as well, instead of having to leave at some god awful early time at 6:00 am...
and what's so bad about having an hour or two with you're ipad after putting your kid to bed after a long day?
Would you like a mug for your smug, or do you prefer whine glasses?
The spelling was intentional.
Boo, -1 for explaining your puns.
