That being said, when you are driving a Suburban, you are usually also hyper aware of where your blind spots are as you back up -- but others walking or driving by seem to have no clue of the danger of just strolling behind one these cars when they have their reverse lights on. Best rule of thumb always walk IN FRONt of a large vehicle in a parking lot, never behind! Your could easily be in a blind spot and have a trajedy. I drive one and really, really try to be overly cautious and passive even, as I drive in town--I am continually amazed though at how many people just casually walk behind my giant vehicle as I'm backing up!
Of course your need to have a giant vehicle is also a mystery to me.

What the hell??? Op here, and I never claimed that I was "so upset" or riled up. Where are you getting this? There have been many people replying and you have no idea which one is me. Actully your reply was longer than my question or any of the responses I made so perhaps you should look into that.
Ummm...yeah.
Then why did you start this post? Bored?
And the multiple ??????????????? certainly conveys that you are upset by the practice, but you know that now don't you...

Yeah, it has crossed my mind too.

Additionally, as I carefully try to back out, inch by inch, blindly feeling my way because I CANNOT SEE around those SUVs, drivers around here just continue to scream through the parking lot, who cares if someone is trying to back up, or is even already halfway out when they come into the lane?
I don't back into spaces but I sure can think of plenty of reasons why it's a good idea.
The people driving in the parking lot have right of way over those people backing out of spaces.
Anonymous wrote:OP - I really think you need to examine your stress levels. Do you really care if people back into parking spots? I mean...really?
Yes, it is rude to take up 2 parking spots especially when crowded. We can all agree to that. But who really cares if a car - properly between the lines - is front facing or back facing. Seriously...it almost fascinates me that some people are so bothered by this stuff...(almost b/c I actually think it is quite sad to be so upset about what is in effect a personal preference).
And if it is b/c you have to wait - like - a minute longer for a car backing into a space than pulling in forward, then I am just sad that something this little gets you riled up. It can't be healthy...

I never parked back in first until I had a baby. we have tons of people who speed on our street and the suvs or trucks that surround me make it harder to see if I have to back out and then what if they hit me? they hit my baby first. Um, no thanks. My baby is more important than you OP any day. So, stew bitch stew! Although, I can park back in faster than you could ever hope to park anything.
