How has no one mentioned Tim McGraw's "Live Like You Were Dying"? It's about his dad (former Phillies player Tug McGraw) becoming diagnosed with the cancer that eventually killed him.

"Tonight" by Elton John/Bernie Taupin, as sung by George Michael. But I never hear of anyone else who has heard it; you had to have had that Two Rooms CD, which was covers of the John/Taupin songs.

It's heartbreaking, partly because of the way George Michael sings it, just beautiful.

Just heard "don't take the girl" by Tim McGraw and started ugly crying in the car.

Joni Mitchell's The Magdalene Laundries. My mom was a victim of an institution like the one described in the song, so it hits home for me.

I was going to post the exact same song! It freaks my DH out - scariest saddest song for him. He is a great hands-on dad, BTW!

YES! Every. Time. I cry during this song.

And...random alert...The Best Gift by Barbara Streisand (on her Christmas album) about having a baby before xmas. My mom sang it to me because I was her newborn under the tree and now that I have my own kids, I cry every Christmas when we play the album.

haha. I find this song absolutely hilarious....and am glad I'm not the only person in the world who knows it exists

There's three of us! And I used to own the vinyl. I knew the lead singer's mom at one point. She never went north of 14th street.

Jewell-"You Were Meant for Me" or maybe it's so sad for me because it came out just when I was really missing my first love and realizing that we wouldn't ever end up together after all. Played that song again and again.
