That makes me feel even worse about my luck!

My child is one of the 24%.

This whole process is so insane, but between charters and DCPS everyone I've met ends up getting in somewhere they find acceptable.

17 at Montessori is actually really good number. I know it's not always based on last year, but we were in low 20s and got a call week before school. Turned it down. The current accepted list also has some kids that had no preference (not all have siblings) so not all are guaranteed to go. Also, I know at least 2 current families that are considering leaving. In late summer, just one spot given up could move the list 20 spots. I know it's frustrating, but it really is true what they say, the lists move extremely fast throughout summer (especially August). If I were a betting woman, I'd bet $10,000 that you'd get a call from CH Montessorit before school starts.

I just randomly checked the results of a specific lottery number and it turns out that someone with a birthday in 12/2006 (same as my DD who is entering K this year) was accepted into the Tyler SI 1st Grade program. How can that be with a birthday in 12/06?? Will this be corrected later on?

So how are you feeling now about rushing the process?

Did you apply anywhere that isn't likely to be too competitive? if so, you could look through the list of numbers for that school and check the date of birth (and schools listed) to see if that is your child's application. you also cut it down by only looking at the ones that fit your criteria for that school -- e.g. whether you applied as in-boundary or out, with a sibling, proximity etc. It'd be time consuming but might be better than waiting til Monday if you're anxious! Good luck.

19:49, you could try to email the critical response team to see if they can help.

Okay I'm 17 on one list and 75 on another. I am so freaking upset. My child has spent two years in two terrible schools. I have transferred him twice. I don't know what to do! I need a drink! Why cant dc reform all schools so parents don't have to go through this. My options are move to Columbia Maryland, or rent an apartment in the desired school location. I can not waste another year of my childs education. Two years is enough!
