I see your point, but you say "fellow parents" as though this means we must stick together no matter what. Why? Here was a person bad-mouthing the Principal of all people because she wants free morning care rather than adjusting her preferred schedule! And you really want to defend someone who posts that pic that she did? I have no more in common with OP than anyone else on the earth, parent or not! It's a message board -- she brought what she perceived to be a "real" problem to a message board rather than to the Principal or ANYONE at the school. Not sure why this deserves to be met ONLY with "try this" and "chin up", or the like. Maybe, just maybe some of the criticism made her realize how incredibly unreasonable her "demands" were. I hope for her kids that she calms down and becomes more reasonable.

Two related questions:

1) Why isn't anyone directing traffic outside? It would be very helpful to have someone out there pushing cars forward to the front of the drop-off zone, ensuring that people don't park, etc. I've seen schools in DC (both private and public) and in NYC operate a lot more efficiently. I know that there are construction issues and that the Albemarle-Nebraska intersection is busy, but with some focus from Janney, drop-off could easily go more efficiently.

2) Does anyone else see a large day-to-day variation in when the classes walk in to school? There have been some days when we arrived at 8:36 AM and classes are walking into school and other days where teachers wander out at 8:40 and kids don't walk in until close to 8:45. If classes are going to walk in the door at 8:35 (as promised by one newsletter), then shouldn't the teachers be outside at 8:34 AM? I know I sound anal retentive, but so do the newsletters explaining this policy. Just sayin'

Or if you are against public transportation for the older kid, why don't you leave a little early and reverse the drop off schedule? The older kid can just sit outside the school and text, daydream, homework, whatever and you can get the little ones to their school in a timely fashion.

Another constructive idea, OP. Maybe older kid can take public transport to school?? I took a public bus to school starting in 6th grade. I had originally assumed you had a younger kid to transport.

Are you insane? Morning care is $85/month. Two kids would be 170. per month. $680 for the fall semester (Aug - Dec.).

You do realize that staff have to be paid to be there to watch the kids during morning care, plus the cost of breakfast.

If you are going to be crazy, at least try to be crazy with the right facts.

PS, stop dropping your kids off unsupervised. They are going to wind up in the office and you will be called...and then you will be persecuted some more I guess.

Ok, I am trying to be constructive here. Not mean, OP do you have any friends, kids friends that you could work with to pool drop off duties. I get the time issue, frankly I dropped my kid off at 8:00 am today unsupervised (gasp) at Eaton so I could get my other kid to a doctor's appointment. Sometimes life just feels like life is conspiring and it is stressful. Also you may want to see if you can help organize a drop and ride at Janney. I have been very impressed by the one at Eaton.

This is an issue at more than a few schools. Thomson has struggled a lot with this issue and more than a few PTA meetings were spent on the parking issue.

I say give her a break - not about her demands, but about laying it on in the comments.

She's already unduly stressed out and these comments can't be helping. It's hard not to dig in when you're feeling under attack.

Please don't be trying to figure out who she is. Give her the opportunity to fade into the woodwork - her kids too.

The OP feels entitled. She thinks she should get free coverage for her kids when others pay for the before-care service.
