Anonymous wrote:Sheesh. A lot of mean unhelpful comments. The cheeping would drive me nuts. Just wait and do nothing for a few weeks. Either you will get used to it and not wake up anymore, or when daylight savings day comes, the birds will be cheeping an hour later then usual, so you will hopefully be awake by then anyways.

I think posters are responding to the title in your thread. These birds are in no way useless since they probably do more good than we do..ie fertilize the trees etc. Maybe move to NYC where you don't hear the birds? Otherwise, you do sound like a very mean person.

Well, it is meant to be funny. Unfortunately, the humourless PETA types are raining on my soul-satisfying rant--injecting their vapid, literal minded comments of dismay--ruining my unburdening.

I would never poison or kill an actual bird. I hate guns. I hate people who disparage "mexican sherriffs". However, I will hate them and curse them each year on this thread as long as they plague me. Hyperbole. It's a thing.

You don't quite get satire, apparently.

Looking back over this thread, I see that skipped 2016 and 2017 because of my total demoralization at the hands (or tiny claws) of these hell-bent creatures.

They mock me with their cold, bloodless, non-mammalian bodies; staring into eternity with their dead, souless eyes and riffling their irridescent inky plumage. They have evolved this far with scrawny pates and toothpick legs to hop through milennia and strike at mankind year in and year out; they advance on the sanity of good women such as myself, deep in an over-priced urban hovel, armed only as I am, with handfuls of construction gravel, concrete rocks, and a coiled garden hose--I am left sleepless and riven, doomed to a rainy season of dreary toil with nary a full night's sleep.

Make like a Disney princess and talk to them. Kindly. Not with your curse words.

My son was born in mid April so I was awake with him in the middle of the night throughout the spring/early summer. I couldn't believe how loud the damn birds were right before sunrise. I had lived 30 yrs without ever hearing them. My son is 13 now and I still hear them when I wake up before sunrise. Nobody told me my sleep would be forever altered by having a baby.

+1

I don't understand people who are so willing to look for an easy short term fix to anything, with reckless disregard for long term impact: "cut down the trees, poison the insects, kill the ecosystem...." Really, I thought people here are supposed to be intelligent? It really makes you sound like a dolt when you go on about nature this way. Leave nature be.
