So what are you wearing to those same occasions and what would the people you know wear? I do think there is a regional divide on this though that's probably not all of it.


DP - there is definitely a regional divide. In my area, I see a lot of tailored sheaths, along with dresses with either asymmetric hems or draping around the neck/shoulders (or both). I only see the Somerset when I am back in DC.
