Blair parents +1. If same lunch period is eliminated, about half of the club activities are going to be eliminated together. Aren't other HS hosting club activities during lunch time?

So does TT’s proposal call for both closed lunch AND multiple lunches? I don’t see how they could/would force schools that already do one closed lunch to start having multiple lunches.

Everyone who cares about one lunch period or open lunch should write to the BOE now because they are well on their way to rubber stamping whatever TT wants to do with no consideration of these points

MCPS is going to be a very dull, drab place to learn.

Not everything is strictly about the w schools. It’s a safety and liability issue. How much are your kids spending? Eating out daily is $$

Open lunch does not mean eating out. My WJ kids pack their lunches but eat in random locations near school.

Yes. There's nothing wrong with a healthy stroll away from campus, or to get some fresh air and vitamin d (from the sun). Some schools in rival districts keep the hs kids cooped up inside the building all day.

Exactly. My kid packs their lunch and meets their friends to eat on our backyard patio since we live two blocks from school. They get fresh air and a break from the building. Bonus - they can use a clean bathroom here, away from vaping and other nonsense in the school bathrooms.

Maybe Taylor can bus all our kids up to Crown to eat lunch there every day.

+1. 2 kids at RM, they leave the school for lunch every single day and do not buy food. They eat what they packed from home. The school is overcrowded, there is not enough room to have lunch in the building.

My kids bought lunch once a week over at G Square and packed their lunch the other days. Slice of pizza at Flippin isn’t that much.

Or they just bought something at Giant.

<$10

That's $50 a week, $200 a month, so yes, its expensive.

This is PP. my kids only bought lunch on Fridays. So only $40 (max) per month. We don’t really live within easy walking distance of any stores so this is their opportunity to do that kind of thing.

Oh yes, let’s prevent all kids doing nothing wrong from getting fresh air and a slice of pizza here or there because one kid with a probable criminal background made another exceptionally bad and criminal decision.

Many high schools do not have the space for students' lunches, for in terms of physical space and food availability. Like, it's not even debatable.

It's not happening, people. Open lunch is here to stay.

They started building HSs with small cafeteria years ago. But, they can keep students on campus, somehow. And if Taylor wants it, well then it will be done.

Taylor enjoyed open campus as a B-CC student, probably going to the "B-CC McDonalds", and likely his kids as well. This anti-open campus position is out of the blue. All very strange.

Trying to “fix” a nonissue.
