Only UVA has produced alumni who are significant in their achievements.
Only UVA has produced such utterly insecure alumni.
Stop falling for troll responses.
DP. It’s hard to believe that’s a troll when I’ve met so many UVA alums who act like that.
Well, I haven’t and I was a UVA Dad. It’s a myth created by the parents of kids who didn’t get in or weren’t even contenders (like one of my children) so an application didn’t make sense. All of the parents and students I met over those four years were delightful and down to earth. Remember this is a public university - it’s not like an uber private in the NE enrolling kids from tony, expensive privates. Sure, there may be an outlier here or there but my DC and our family never met them. Would you say the same about other great publics like UCLA and Michigan? No, I didn’t think so.
It seems UVA supporters on DCUM tend to disparage other schools. I guess it could be trolls.
I’ve never seen UVA parents disparage other schools. Please provide a citation or example.

W&L is the most selective college in VA. Even UVA is easier to get in.
W&L is still harder to get into. Go seethe in your cry corner, UVA loser
College counselor here. W&L has 1800 students and UVA has 18,000. Admission rate comparison makes no sense. W&L considers interest, they do interviews - it is a different process and they look at more parts of an application. But in my experience, for students from Northern Virginia, the academic expectations are higher for students trying to get into UVA. This is partly explained by the fact that 25% of W&L students are athletes/have an athletic hook as opposed to the ~2.5% at UVA. But even for non-athletes, the academic threshold is consistently higher for UVA.
The standardized test scores for W&L have consistently been higher than UVA.
