I would love to have a house in NoVa with an acre so I can plant my own fruit trees, and my garden. I have a tiny garden in my townhouse and I grow my own herbs, tomatoes, cucumbers and zucchinis, but that is it. If I have land, I would be growing all our vegetables, and maybe even have some chicken. The girl can keep dreaming.

I'd buy the farmland next to the house and take down the hunting stands. And make home repairs - windows, doors, floors, walkway and patio. And take care of dead trees. And upgrade shed into she-shed.

So I'll probably need a private jet too to get to where I want to go.

I am not poor and I cannot afford a lot of the listed things. They would be great but I have to make choices or I wouldn’t have the things that I value more.

Almost everyone has more than someone else and, except for a very small few, almost everyone knows someone that has more than them.

I would love a gym membership also, and Invisalign, and I want to have a facial!! I've never had one. And a massage. I'd love to try the whole spa experience at least once.

I would also love to go to the grocery store and buy everything we want without thinking about the price.

I would also love to have that experience clothes shopping. Like going to Zara and buying everything I like.

I would also like to have a properly funded college acct for my kid and a properly funded IRA for myself.

I've always dreamed of having a little house with a garden. Maybe someday...

And of course I would love to travel internationally. Pretty much anywhere (within reason for safety precautions of course).

And my child really wants to see a Broadway play so I would take her to that.

I thought this would be a fun exercise but now I just feel kind of sad that I'm still broke after all these years...

I think about this a lot. I own a home (well, the bank does) and I often think about what I’d do with a million dollars handed to me.

1) pay off the house ($360k remaining)
2) kitchen reno + deck off of kitchen ($140k)
3) Reno both bathrooms ($60k)
4) Clean up landscaping and trees ($25k)
5) the rest would be savings, but with a new car for me so I can give my teen my current (safe and reliable, but boring) car.

You could have this now if you had a more trustworthy spouse.

I did it few times on low income and my kid is working on making minimum wage. It's #1 want and the rest would follow.
I gave my money away several times as I knew I could get to financial freedom again be it on low income.
It's easy for me. I never knew it was such a challenge for others. It's like they have blinders on. I asked and only heard excuses.

Same. I'd want a pool, a vacation home, and never to travel economy again.
I am comfortable but can do any of these (home due to zoning and septic - we could prob afford that in our primary residence if we worked those out).

*can't
