+1 They are definitely accepting the same kids. This is why some private schools limit applications. Top students can rake in acceptances and it hurts the students that are just slightly lower. Applications are read as a group for your school, so the top kids will usually get accepted.
I find it funny how the rhetoric changes depending on the school. If a certain school in Atlanta went to the waitlist this early it would be confirmation that its no one's first choice. But since its WashU and Rice its something else. This is on top of WashU very high ED acceptance rate.
