Top schools are well worth full pay, no job shortage there.
Every 2025 from kid’s ivy and friends of theirs at similar level schools have jobs, besides the ones who went the med/law/phD route. Most of the 2026s have jobs or are finalizing now.
The students who are looking from 2025 went to schools outside the T30ish.
DP. That’s not been our experience at all. The kids we know who are employed or have recently received offers attended state schools. Many of those who graduated from Ivies are still searching.
My '25 Cornell kid has been searching for his first job for the past 18 months without much luck. My '26 Cornell kid has been searching for her first job for the past 12 months. She has three different internships in her freshman, sophomore, and junior year: However, she will graduate next month without having a job. FWIW, both are in stem field.

Same here.
+2
State school grads are very much in demand by employers. I think people are wising up about Ivy grads.

No decency to tell the poor kids the right away so they can look elsewhere?

wonder if the kids all believed the offers were indeed “tentative”
+ 1. They need to be informed.

Anonymous wrote:Lots of tech hiring still happening along the Metro Silver Line in NoVA and along 28. Blue Origin, Kuiper, Amazon, NG/Orbital Sciences, and others all are actively hiring.
(If hired at Amazon, then work hard, learn everything you can, get experience for your resume, and keep looking for a better job. Remember that any entry-level tech job is better than having no tech job.)
With a STEM degree and US citizenship (not green card or other visa), look at USAjobs.gov. Several parts if IC and DoD/DoW are actively hiring new grads with STEM backgrounds.
I also would work whatever network you have (church, sports, relatives, or other) to find something. Lots of government sector places are looking for people to hire as contractors to replace the (lower cost) civil service people who took the fork last year. Those jobs often do not get advertised but they do exist.

DD is about to graduate from Cornell, and she is still searching for a job for the past nine months. She was offered a full-time position after her internship, but it was rescinded due to company-wide layoff. Both are in STEM field. It is absolutely awful out there.
Is the “25 grad underemployed or no job at all? My ‘26 is seeing all the stories of ‘25 grads still looking and I am wondering if they are working but not in the field of their degree.
My son graduated in '25. Several friends are still looking and their only employment is substitute teaching and door dash.
Major? College? Did he have internships during college?
