I don't think you can say a state has the nicest people. I have met many nice people all over. It might even be a stretch to characterize a city/town as has having the nicest people.
Indiana. My mom and grandparents were from there and I spent summers there. Nicest people ever!

This is the south too. Also judgment about church / not church / which church. So very hypocritical and truly unkind and not "nice"
