If you slow down, smile, and are basically polite and decent, so is she. If you are rude, hysterical, entitled, pushy- she will shut it straight down in no uncertain terms. She’s a good lesson for us all.
Yes, I'm sure that 10 year old thought deeply about the energy she was bringing after her encounter. Once she stopped crying, that is.
Seriously. I can’t believe people are defending a grown adult who treats little kids this way.

It’s some company called CSC. I think they are contracted by UMD, not the meet directors

Unless you've been living under a rock or a longtime recluse, you've seen them a million times before.
I’ve seen Centreville Swim Club a million times. But not Contemporary Services Corporation.

Security at Maryland is the way it is because Maryland wants it that way. Maryland has significant liability risk when hosting events at the rec center because of the ability of non-students/members to gain access to the rest of the facility. One creep using a swim meet to sneak in and sexually assault a student would be a huge scandal. Not defending her attitude or tone, but that is what Maryland wants.
Second, for Championship meets, I believe PVS sets almost all the parameters for the meet, including how volunteers are requested, any spectator fees, etc. I believe the host club is really only there to execute. Unlike the holiday meets like KLI or the RMSC meet, where the teams are running the meet how they like.
Her behavior is the same for KLI, IMX and every other meet we’ve ever been to at UMD.

She said she sees her be awful to swimmers and parents every meet and it makes her upset to see her treat others so poorly. We value kindness and she sees her be unnecessarily cruel. She says she does it every meet and it really bothers her to witness it.
