Stone Mill is now Hoover (formerly Cabin John) and Wootton.
Travilah is now Cabin John (formerly Frost) and Wootton.
Don’t understand why they swapped stone mill to Hoover.

The high school plan splits off Cold Spring but from everything I am hearing Cold Spring doesn't actually care. They are at Hoover and Churchill now, shorter commute and great schools.
Other than that, the Wootton cluster remains together and adds some new students.
The Wootton community within walking distance is so mad they are planning to tie this whole thing up in litigation for the foreseeable future, hopefully to draw it out long enough to have a new board and no vote. Great use of our tax dollars.
Yes it seems that they decided to make this plan in order to make elementary school boundaries contiguous but I agree this is not a good idea. I would say both Stone Mill and Travilah should be sent to Hoover and just keep Cold Spring at Cabin John even if it makes the boundaries non-contiguous. Hoover is closer than Cabin John for both Stone Mill and Travilah and at that distance (over 15 min) the slightly closer school makes a difference.

The Wootton cluster is fine with diversity as long as those kids come from well to do families and their kids are smart. Throw in some Gaithersburg kids and now you’ve got some of the undocumented and poverty level families that will bring your top performing school down a notch. You scream about the importance of equity and equality until you are directly impacted and then you don’t want it.
And no, East County schools DO NOT want to be bused your way. East County wants access to the same classes and opportunities in the eastern part of the county.
I call BS on saying the Wootton families are trying to avoid FARMS populations. Wootton Cluster sends the most students to Blair's magnet, a school that has a sizable FARMS population.
Yah, those magnet classes are filled with FARMS kids.
Honors and AP classes also often create a school within a school. I went to Wootton and it was more than obvious that this was the case and, unfortunately, it often did correlate with class. Point is, honors/AP classes at Wootton will likely continue functioning as a school within a school...and with FARMS increasing by 4% the change will be fairly mild.
The people worried about FARMS increase can't seriously be worried about it in terms of the "educational experience." Their fear is simply that Wootton will drop from being ranked #191 in the country to #400 and that their home value is going to drop because of it.
MCPS taking a wrecking ball to one of their best schools is stupid
Crown is not the same population as single family homes in the wootton cluster. It’s filled with apartments and townhouses. They have more crime than other Wootton communities. Adding rosemont and fields road to Wooton means moms 4 Liberty contingent at wootton although small group are freaking out all over next door that their white babies will have to go to a diverse school. They claim it’s property related no it’s not it’s maga racist shits.
As a person that lives in the wootton community I do not want a new name. If MCPS does that then yep property values will take a nose dive as well college acceptances. Lucky me no kids in play
You can't just waive your hand and complain about "townhouses." There are plenty of townhouses in Stonebridge, by the way. But unlike the ones in Crown (https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/606-Crown-Park-Ave-Gaithersburg-MD-20878/119331492_zpid/), none cost over a million dollars. I doubt your claims of crime and Crown. Either way, there's higher crime in Manhattan than there is in "North Potomac" but the people living on the Upper East Side are far more wealthy than your average DuFief/Stonebridge individual.
Crown is mostly town houses not single family stonebridge and Dufief are the opposite with no apartments.
Crime stats can be found online yes crown has higher crime rates
None of this is NYC not sure why you added that it’s not remotely relevant.

You just hit the nail on the head! FARMS kids are great until they mess with my home value.
And, for all you whining about the distance, you do realize that it’s 3 miles between Wootton HS and Downtown Crown? 3.5 freaking miles. We aren’t talking 35 miles. It’s 3.5 miles. I’m sure you drive further than that to go to the mall or out to eat. Your kids will be fine adding 3.5 miles to their daily drive. If they aren’t, then they probably shouldn’t be driving to school.
