Patriot district just confirmed Friday prelims and finals on Saturday night. No change in schedule. Someone said Concorde is doing the same.

Does 'no mention' mean we're on the original timeline? Or are we still waiting for a decision about evening activities?

That would be my guess, considering they aren’t even using school facilities.

Not sure I would assume that. They didn't announce they were shutting things down at 6 today until late morning or early afternoon. SACC was caught off guard by it. They normally close at 6:15 pm. Not much of a difference obviously, but they were calling families to make sue they knew because it was made very clear everyone was to be out of buildings by 6 pm. SACC is closing at 6 again tomorrow.

I think another district is trying to do the same but FCPS says they cannot guarantee activities in Saturday due to weather. But that sounds like they will allow activities at least for Friday night. I would rather a one day meet and get it done then take the risk.

Is Arlington also going to guarantee it for you? They have been shutting everything down at 6 and the roads are trash.

It really wouldn’t be “squeezing” since regionals aren’t until the following Friday (February 13).

With a chance of having the same issue - Forecast - “ Snow, sleet, and freezing rain in the morning; cloudy with a little rain in the afternoon”

Why does dive always get the Friday morning schedule- why don’t they alternate every year with swim?

Because you need fewer volunteers to run a dive meet.

The coaches and ADs have NOTHING to do with the decision. FCPS, APS, LCPS, etc all decide if after school activities are open or closed. All the ADs can do if the school system says it's closed is try to find alternative pool time.

No, each district can do whatever the ADs in that district feel like or are able to do. The only thing they all have to do is obey the county, so if FCPS says activities are closed, then SOL.

Our coach said we’d basically lose most of our volunteers from our team if they move it to the morning since parents have to work. Just insane to not have a decision made by now

The bigger problem is finding the 40+ qualified volunteers that it takes to run a successful meet. It’s a shame for the swimmers.

Especially when they didn’t give parents time to put in scheduled leave before leaving work today
