Great to hear it, OP! He might do just fine without it but locking in some backup options is wise. It's not too late and it's a smart to do now.

Here is a list of schools with late application deadlines

more here:

You can also filter schools directly in the common app

In addition, there are some schools that might accept an application even though their deadline has passed. Syracuse, for example, has sent an email saying they would consider applications on a space-available basis. If there are schools DC might have considered with 1/15 deadlines, have them send an email ASAP asking if they would consider a late application.

OP, did your kid get into Tulane EA? If not, cross it off the list. RD is not happening.

3.9 unweighted, 4.6 weighted seems high to me. But we're at a private that has competitive entry just to get in from middle school, and then only 20% of the class has above a 3.85 UW.

What kind of school?

We went to a full-day session at BU. They stated Demonstrated Interest is very important in their admissions process, and that the best way to demonstrate interest is to apply ED.

BU loves ED and they fill 59% of their class in the ED and ED2 rounds. However, they still fill 41% of their class in RD so the next best thing is visiting in person and attending their events (school visit, virtual stuff, etc.).

Tufts University
Duke
Boston College
Boston University
University of Michigan
University of Virginia
Northeastern University
Villanova
Pitt

He will be fine.

When did apply to Pitt? Highly unlikely you’ll get an acceptance this late.

Kid will likely get several acceptances. I wouldn’t worry.

This is fabricated by someone who doesn't understand the college admissions.
There are only a few private provide EA option.
BU and BC do not have EA options.

So is OP a troll?

Why you didn’t EA UMD?
UMD RD is basically a waste.

+1

UMD is not a safety, especially if you are from MoCo. Eagle Scout and a 1490 = dime a dozen.

Yes, you do not have enough safeties.

If it were me, my kid would have applied to Pitt in August to increase chances for merit aid and to know we had an acceptance in hand. Pitt runs out of merit aid at some point and early bird gets the worm.

My kid would also have added several safeties.

I think his choices are going to be
Villanova
Pitt
Tulane
UMD
Wisconsin
Maybe UM and Northeastern

Not for UMD RD. They accept 90% of the freshman class Early Action. That was an unforced error.

Is it a public school? Track record?

It's more likely to be a public school, most private school counselors won't approve that list with those stats and only have one safety.

Application deadlines for those schools have passed. Leigh High was Jan 1st and W&M was Jan 5th.
