You need to understand why he is getting a C and teach the skills that are missing. It is common for kids to rush through work at that age. Sometimes it is due to ADHD, sometimes immaturity, sometimes tiredness, or something else. Punishment doesn’t teach. The C is information about how he is learning or how he is feeling and functioning in school.
It is not something to punish and give consequences for.

The smartest person I've ever known - litterally someone that designs components for commercial aircraft and avionics systems... Pretty consistently got D's in almost all math classes growing up. He's now a very highly paid engineer working for Northrup Grunman. Making almost half a million per year.

Your kid will be fine, OP. Help him, if anything. Don't 'punish'.
