"PIVOT!!"
Never thought the scene was funny.
That's definitely a you problem
I think the only reason people NOW like it is because Schwimmer said that was his favorite scene.
I actually thought the leather pants with powder and lotion was his best scene.
DP. At the time it aired, it was hilarious. Everyone was talking about it and saying, "PIVOT!" It's not as funny now, rewatching it, but it definitely was at the time.

Jennifer Aniston is a phenomenol comedic (and dramatic) actress; her timing is excellent and she can improvise (see Blue Blazer Black scene). Matthew Perry created the character of Chandler...his delivery, facial expressions, and ability to be sarcastic yet vulnerable is special. Matt LeBlanc is an excellent actor; his character had a lot of dimensions and depth, if you pay attention. Courtney Cox became Monica; she's honest and funny and manages to be likable despite being super type-A, etc. In my opinion, Phoebe is the worst character and, by far, the least likable, but I still think Lisa Kudrow is a great actor. No idea why so many on here claim she's the only one with talent. That's ridiculous. Her character had the least depth and changed the least over the course of the show.
Agree w all of this.
+1.

Anonymous wrote:Absolutely.
If you’ve never seen bad actors you don’t know just how GOOD the good actors are.
Comedy is insanely hard to do.
Anonymous wrote:No. Average at best, marginal as an ensemble popularity is largely due to the time it originally aired, hype, nostalgia and racism
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Ross was annoying, but Schwimmer's comedic timing and physicality were spot-on.
LeBlanc got more nuanced as the show went on, and definitely developed as an actor (which Perry chronicles in his book).
Perry was one-note. Could he BE any more one note?
I didn't understand Kudrow's character. Phoebe was just zany and off. No depth.
I think Aniston and Cox both brought a lot to roles that could have been stock characters (Type A and spoiled princess).
Monica was former fat girl turned beauty after her teen years, plus the sibling that the parents never noticed, with all the baggage that enrailed.
She was type A because of that transition from her tern years.
