Lol. Every kid I grew up with was disciplined like this. We are all normal, law abiding adults. Nothing wrong with establishing the pecking order early on. It’s when kids are allowed to do whatever that we have problems.

I was raised in the 70’s and my parents did this a few times.
Or even worse they sometimes used hot sauce!!

I was also spanked on occasion.
My generation of kids used to do what our parents told us to do….. or else!
We were afraid of our parents and wanted to please them.

Parents these days are constantly bending over backwards so their kids are never unhappy.

I was never threatened to have my mouth washed out with soap but was brought up not to curse or use embarrassing words. I have heard four and five year olds day $hit and drop the F bomb and parents just ignored.

They are less likely to be maladjusted than your kids who were never told no. If kids had perfectly developed reasoning skills they would not need to in our care for so long.

Nah. One set of parents doesn't have to do things exactly like another set of parents. That's called making your own decisions. We all do it, all day long. Frankly, my children got more consequences than my sister's kids and it was fine. "in our family we...." is used for many things.

Ex: in our family we have chores, set the table, bring clothing down to the laundry room and help fold and put it away, help clean the house, make our own beds..... blah blah. My sister's kids never were asked to do any of that on the regular - so when she did ask she had to BEG. And they stil didn't do it unless they wanted to. My kids weren't asked if they wanted to set the table, that was part of being in our family (do I or my husband want to make dinner EVERY FREAKING night? no, we don't, but that's part of being in this family)

I never did this, nor had it done to me, but I think I remember my preschool doing it to other kids back in the 70s.

As awful as the practice seems by itself, anyone who considers it should do their research. I think I remember hearing that the liquid soaps we use today are more toxic, and who knows how even bar soaps may have changed since then. Everything seems to have more chemicals today, and I think the practice may go way back to the days when people made their own soap.

I couldn't get past the DAUGHTER named Wyatt. I dislike it for a boy - a girl is even worse!

I hope Taylor Swift comes to get senses and breaks her engagement to her neo-neanderthal.

If you need physical force to establish the pecking order, you are not smarter than your own child. Only low class, low IQ people use physical tactics to discipline their children in 2025.

I agree. Shoving soap in your kid’s mouth is abuse. I bet you she’d hesitate to do that if she had a son. There’s a sock puppet out here arguing that kids need physical violence to learn how to behave and that’s the opposite of how kids learn to behave.
