It is more than a handful and there is a lot of new construction in the area being projected. It is very close to Westfield.

cont. and, it was in ALL scenarios.

No, only a handful moved in one of the scenarios even though Westfield and Chantilly are very close to each other.

There is a pattern of abuse dealt to families and staff by the school board.

Plus, this new high school is only consequential for one elementary school.

Oak Hill.

Floris, Coates, Crossfield, McNair, and Fox Mill all feed into Carson and have the potential to feed to Western.

If all students from Floris, Crossfield, McNair, Westfield part of Coates, Fox Mill, Oak Hill, and Navy Attendance Island are zoned for Western, roughly 2162 students would move into the new facility.

After FCPS modifies it, that number should work.

The school needs a central cafeteria, 2 gyms (One Main, One Aux) a large and Central Library, classrooms and labs in place of open amphitheaters which are a health and safety hazard for teens, and a concentrated CTE wing separate from the rest of the school.

Pool might need filled in too.

A stadium, soccer field, baseball and softball fields, and an outdoor basketball court also need built.

Any non-neutral religious themes need removed.

With those modifications made, more capacity can be drawn and interior square footage increased.

That school was a K-12 private school. Now it is a 9-12 school.

What’s funny is that this location was where a high school would have been built if the Board of Directors didn’t screw us taxpayers over and sell it to the Saudi’s in the first place.

This whole school is a game FCPS is playing and I hate that for us, Teachers and Staff, and our effing kids.

The better not fill in that pool. It could be a great thing for the local community, including water safety instruction for kids who may not otherwise have access.

Some of those kids have to stay at Westfield. You can't empty out Westfield no matter how many people are clamoring to get rezoned to Western. Aiming for 1800 at Western is more realistic.

Agree. Even if everyone is closer and would prefer Western, you can't leave Westfield half a school.

There are kids at overcrowded Centreville and, perhaps still overcrowded Chantilly, that can move to Westfield. They live much closer than those that would go to Western.

200-300 kids are already being moved from CVHS to Westfield who are much closer to Centreville. You can't empty out CVHS either.

Its much easier to keep some kids at their current assigned school then create multiple cascades of moves. Some of these neighborhoods simply have to stay put.

Westfield is not conveniently located to almost any residential neighborhoods. They still have to fill its seats.

There is lots of new construction right by Westfield. Presently up for sale, soon to be completed, and more new construction in progress. There is also a lot of construction in the area near Wegman's.

There are Chantilly kids who live much, much closer than those across the road from the new school.

Use a little common sense.

Did any of the scenarios move significant numbers of students from Chantilly to Westfield?

They have cub run for that, or they have land at the discovery community center.

Trashing a pool would be an insane waste. I cannot imagine the outcry. Plus, schools have swim teams.
Right sweetie, but not all have their own pool.

This high school is a spectacle much like you.

NP

Reid said she would keep the pool.

Kids are clumsy and can easily fall.

My sun fell down an amphitheater and required detailed surgery.

But they aren’t filling in the poul, but closing in one of the gyms and modifying the cafeteria.

A library might be added.

They will have a CTE wing and will be adding a library, a large one.

I heard that they are moving the front stairs too.
