Other than in your mind, how has Trump affected you? Honestly.

I hate trump, but he has no tangible impact on my life.

Do you live around here, or have friends or neighbors? It’s hard to believe you, if you do.
I guess if things are fine for you, great. But don’t you care about what others are going through?

I don’t know about you, but even though things somewhat ok for me (in spite of 3 hours daily commute since so-called RTO that has been pretty rough on my family) and I have a job and a lot of financial security, and I can afford to buy Christmas presents and send my kid to college, I feel less happy knowing I have neighbors who have lost their jobs, people losing their homes, had their livelihoods destroyed through no fault of their own, or who fear deportation even if they have literally done nothing wrong and followed the law to a T.

This area definitely has a different feel now. It is sad and subdued. If you aren’t noticing any changes, lucky you I guess.

If they were following the law, they would have came to the United States legally.

The people I am talking about DID come to the United States legally, and should be able to feel safe, but they don’t feel safe because they are seeing evidence that ICE could detain and deport them too. Even if they are ultimately found to be here legally, detention is not great. How would you like it if you got picked up and detained for a few days on your way to work?

Stop debating trolls. They are laughing at you.

This may sound callous but those murders didn't really affect me. My contracts being cancelled, the government shutdown, the DEI muzzle, my LEGAL employees getting snatched off the streets, that all really affects me.

And? I don't get your point.

I think that they meant that most of the DC murders are localized to an area that isn't really part of that poster's world. Whereas the changes since Trump came to office have impacted them directly in several different ways. Therefore, the reduced murder rate doesn't change their life much and the decimation of the rule of law and Federal government (not to mention economy) have in fact impacted them.

This. PP is saying that Black lives don’t matter. Hope this clarifies the issue.

Men don’t use electricity or eat or need health care?

There is a reason why typical white males need so much DEI to help them compete, they kind of suck.

Just subjugate women, deport brown people, institutionalize racism, and tada, claim superiority. They are just sad
Little boys.

I’d like to thank you and all the other debilitatingly depressed and anxious females the proved my point with their 5 pages of posts.

DP. Tell me what is so great about being a callous, uncaring person? Should we all endeavor to just care less?

Exactly! The people who are unbothered are psychopaths and/or gluttons at this point.

They are satisfied with that. Most animals
have no sense of empathy for strangers or neighbors.

Some people are happy because they are selfish and rich, like spoiled children.

Most of them are angry but supportive because they are miserable and the only relief they have is to revel in the suffering of others.

15-20% of voters have been made miserable enough to defect from supporting him.

Even if you like him, everyone knows (or can see that) Trump is a life-long liar, bullshitter, and cheat (as in not paying carpenters/plumbers/electricians, etc. in his career as a bankrupt "developer".) His sons are comically horrible douchebags, and the people he's surrounded by are people who would associate themselves with a life-long liar, bullshitter, and cheat for whatever gains they think they can extract for themselves. There's a lot of ick happening in that Administration.

It's just a general malaise. Owning the libs (with all their be-nice-to-the-poor-people lecturing) is incredibly satisfying to a certain kind of voter, but then the buzz wears off.

Does it wear off? I feel like it’s the only thing that keeps them supporting Trump.

Well, true. The feeling of owning the libs is so gratifying for many (most?) Republican voters that some of them end up paying for it in ways they regret. (Check out the FAFO section for some examples.) Many of them blame the owned-libs (now renamed "the system" or "the gubmit") for their suffering.

As has been mentioned, if Trump told them that wiping was woke, you can be damned sure that magaland would get really smelly.

It’s pathetic.

Y'all cain't take away mah freedom.

Stop drinking the NPR cool aide. The USA is doing well under Trump, even if he is personally a gruff and unpleasant person.

How is it doing well? Go on….

Well, before Trump we didn't know that China could control rare Earth metals and ensure tariffs on cheap Chinese goods don't get out of control. Trump provided that.

Thx. TBH, I think I got it, but wanted the poster to spell that out.

Don't be so lazy. Other posters are not here to do your thinking for you

Trump = cartoon villain is certainly the dominating topic here and a stupid debate.

Objectively, there are many people in this area meaningfully less happy because of losing their Fed jobs, or fearing being deported, which makes sense. These two categories have absolutely valid reasons to be a lot less happy than others. For everyone else chugging along, what other categories of people would have legitimate hardships under this administration they didn't have already during Covid disaster and Biden's runaway train?
