Why do you think urban people aren't handy, OP? And can the people you socialized with diagnose and treat very complex medical cases and conduct clinical trials?

Happy for you and your husband to be so capable and smart. Nonetheless, it's a fact that repairmen, contractors, and domestic workers are employed by many, many households in cities and suburban areas. Folks in more rural areas do much of that kind of work themselves.

Just because they CAN do it doesn't mean they want to. How is that so hard to understand? I don't want to break a chicken's neck, drain the blood, dip it in hot water to help get the feathers off, remove the innards and cut it up just to eat a fried chicken leg.

Do your neighbors know how to:

Build a fire
Process a deer/ turkey/ game bird
Frame a simple shed
Install a well pump
Clean load and fire a pistol or rifle

Or do .... anything that doesnt cause a traffic jam at Tysons?

Yes
Yes to turkey/game bird
No (this is/was men's work down south where I am from)
No (this is/was men's work down south where I am from)
Yes

I don't drive in Virginia unless forced. I prefer city life, to he** with all that hard labor.

Anything else?

Plus, these are all “flyover country” skills

Your ignorance sbout clinical trils proves you are lying about yourDH being a doctor.

What’s ignorant about what the PP said? Please educate us.

Diagnosticians and clinicians are two very separate people. If we were talking law enforcement, it would be like saying my DH is a cop who arrests people and also prosecutese them.

We can tell... You're arrogant and snooty.

And you think I care what a bunch of hicks think?

Yes, your response proves your interest. You're pretty dumb.

You’re pretty triggered. But continue being proud that you can eat a raccoon.

Same. Now if you asked about changing a flat tire, snaking a drain, changing my car’s oil, spark plugs, etc, that’s a different story.

My husband grew up in a large inner city so you would look at him and never think he could do any of those things. He served in the military, went to survival school and he can do everything on that list and more.

Maybe expand your social circle.

Growing up in an inner city also requires one to learn many of the skills needed in rural areas. The typical suburban family hires others to do the work.

There are plenty of people who live in Greene County and cause traffic jams when they commute to Tysons.

And do those people of Greene County know how to take Metro, order a cocktail in a bar, drive on the Beltway, parallel park, network, or appreciate art?

Whatever is your point? It isn’t like those skills are inherently virtuous and as many people live in urban areas as they do rural ones.

What a laughable list you created that unintentionally proved OP's point
