My husband is an MD/PhD who does all his own projects about the house and can absolutely do what you describe. I have two Masters', make fires and come from a hunting-on-horseback family (even though I do not hunt myself).
Why do you think urban people aren't handy, OP? And can the people you socialized with diagnose and treat very complex medical cases and conduct clinical trials?
Happy for you and your husband to be so capable and smart. Nonetheless, it's a fact that repairmen, contractors, and domestic workers are employed by many, many households in cities and suburban areas. Folks in more rural areas do much of that kind of work themselves.

Do your neighbors know how to:
Build a fire
Process a deer/ turkey/ game bird
Frame a simple shed
Install a well pump
Clean load and fire a pistol or rifle
Or do .... anything that doesnt cause a traffic jam at Tysons?

If they were actually useful, then more people would know how to do them.

Your ignorance sbout clinical trils proves you are lying about yourDH being a doctor.
What’s ignorant about what the PP said? Please educate us.

We can tell... You're arrogant and snooty.
And you think I care what a bunch of hicks think?
Yes, your response proves your interest. You're pretty dumb.

My husband grew up in a large inner city so you would look at him and never think he could do any of those things. He served in the military, went to survival school and he can do everything on that list and more.
Maybe expand your social circle.

And do those people of Greene County know how to take Metro, order a cocktail in a bar, drive on the Beltway, parallel park, network, or appreciate art?
Whatever is your point? It isn’t like those skills are inherently virtuous and as many people live in urban areas as they do rural ones.
