It isn’t that simple. The school enrolls a fraction of those accepted non-ED. It enrolls close to 100% of the ones accepted ED.
So again, what does it have to do with acceptance rate?

emory was quoted in the ny times article about early decision. it admits the most of its freshman class early decision than virtually any other college. of course that skews the acceptance rate. no one thinks emory is a better school than nyu. it has that same extra junior college campus out in the rural part of georgia.
70% of Emory students submit test scores vs 25% of NYU. Also NYU isnt even T30 so...
emory is trash. move on

We visited NYU and loved the vibe.
Debated between ED to NYU or Emory.
My kid is attending NYU and doing great.
Got a good financial aid package as well.
The “vibe” as in lower Manhattan or the corner of Washington Square where the food trucks are located. There isn’t a campus and you don’t get to even see a classroom.
I’m glad your student is doing well. I love NYC, but I am hoping my student chooses otherwise. We won’t get need based aid and merit aid isn’t a given with a 4% acceptance rate for regular decision. I’m still biased at finding another university, but it’s isn’t my decision
I’m the other poster here. Some kids love the city like my DS, and NYU is academically the best fit for him. He applied ED to NYU without hesitation.
I respect how you are letting your kid make their own decision despite your misgivings.

Great to hear your kid is doing well. My DS starts in January and we are naturally a little apprehensive and hoping for the same.
The tour is a farce as previously posted. We went in fall ‘23 and the guides led us around the neighborhood. I assume we went into the first floor of the library, but we couldn’t see the books.
My guess is that the tour exists primarily to track demonstrated interest.
If the students who work for the school are any indication, the vibe is good. We called a number of times to get answers to questions and they were friendly, outgoing and willing to share their personal experiences. This wasn’t always the case at other schools.

The Oxford campus is 30 miles outside Atlanta, and literally walking distance to the neighboring metro-Atlanta suburb. Not exactly rural, in the context of Atlanta’s sprawl. 6 or more shuttles a day to Emory’s main campus in Atlanta. And nothing wrong with rural colleges either!
