More than half of Americans go through life just fine without college. I’m glad I went because of the awesome nightlife and a few of the classes but with the internet anyone can get an education on their own.

College is more than an internet education. If you can afford the college experience, it’s fun to do it. If you can’t, join Palantir.

Ask anyone close to llm providers what the retention rate is on customer trials after the trial rate expires?????? ROI just isn't there esp with the overbuilding of the infrastructure.

I do NOT claim to be an expert but isn't Palantir just a software company unlike OpenAI. Dont think they’re building data centers.

While most kids should go to college, Palantir is recruiting kids with ivy level stats. These top kids can always defer college for a year, work at Palantir, then go to college if the career doesn't work out.

Plus many colleges would let them sub work experience for classes. I was able to do that for grad school and it reduced the cost and length of time to get my degree.

It's an alternate path for the best and brightest, not necessarily the wave of the future for the masses.

The lack of a degree will hurt future income and future job prospects.

Or enroll in college as a 23yo.

Have you worked with adults that don’t have a college degree or any specialized training? Have you managed these type of workers? I’ve done both and it is ROUGH. Their thought processes are different, especially if they come from an hourly background. I much prefer hiring and working with college graduates.

Palantir is obnoxious, and I’m here defending the idea that getting a good college education is fun and wonderful.

But I think it’s important to make the point, that might be implicit in what you’re saying, that excessive credentialism is bad, too. We’ve probably all met brilliant, well-educated, mentally agile people who weren’t able to get a bachelor’s degree, for whatever reason.

If you’re not well connect and well liked (or even harder your kid isn’t) your wasting your time in college

For many people, going to college is a lot of fun. If I have a great kid, and I can figure out how to pay for college, why would I not give my great kid that experience? Who knows whether it will pay for itself, but that’s not really the point. The experience itself is the point.

No options? I don't believe working FT at Palantir out of HS restricts you from attending college a couple of years later. Make for an interesting application.
