You do you boo. I choose to live far away from density, subsidized housing, weed odors from neighbors, and mentally unstable hobos outside of my door.
To each their own.
Wow that’s quite an inaccurate picture.
You do know that drug use and OD rates are higher in rural populations, right?
Rural areas are much safer. Most American cities have large neighborhoods that are "sundown towns" where no one is willing to step into after dark, no matter how liberal and anti-Maga they are on the internet.
I don’t think you’ve been in a major city in a long time, if ever.
They are a troll who doesn't even know what a "sundown town" is.
Red states tend to have the highest crime rates.

What an ironic and moronic appropriation of the term.
Learn some history, friend....
A sundown town was an all-white municipality or neighborhood in the United States that used discriminatory laws, intimidation, or violence to exclude non-whites. The term originated from signs that warned people of color to leave the town by sundown, though they also faced exclusion if they tried to stay overnight as a guest. These practices were common before the 1950s but the legacy continues through practices like racial profiling and other forms of systemic exclusion.

Anonymous wrote:Is this really a question? It's because they're blue. There is constant talk about how bad they are and people believe it. I was just in Chicago and it seemed prosperous, busy and peaceful to me.

Put a different way, people choose to live in areas they think are better.
Stop the presses!
No, what we can conclude is that MAGAs don't know how to read or understand data for themselves and rely on propaganda for their information.

I’m more comfortable walking in midtown Manhattan than I am some desolate country road where I’m in big trouble if a pick up truck stops next to me and tells me to get in.
Also - Based on the latest data, Tennessee has a significantly higher rate of gun deaths per capita than New York. For 2023, the total age-adjusted gun death rate in Tennessee was 22.0 per 100,000 residents, while New York's was 4.7 per 100,000. That’s a huge difference.
Compare two cities - As of 2024, the gun death rate in Jackson, Mississippi, was drastically higher than in Boston, Massachusetts. Data shows that Jackson had the highest per-capita homicide rate in the U.S. in 2024, while Boston's homicide rate was at a near-historic low.
Compare a red state and a blue state on the safety of women regarding the most serious assault - Massachusetts rape rate: For 2023, the rape rate was 27.3 per 100,000 people. This rate of violence against women in Massachusetts is lower than the U.S. national average.
Texas rape rate: For 2023, the rate was 49.5 per 100,000 people, placing Texas among the highest rates of violence against women in the country.
I am so sick of the stupidest people in our country buying this bull that Trump sells. Blue states are safer including their cities. How much taxpayer money was spent on the dog and pony show that Trump put on in Portland, DC, Chicago?
And which party controls Jackson, Mississippi?
It brings me no pleasure to point out that all the crime stuff is correlated to the size of the African-American population, not to the party in charge. Furthermore, pro-crime democrat district attorneys and judges obstruct the proper administration of justice in these high crime areas.
If Republicans had a way to reduce crime in cities like Jackson they would present that solution to voters, run for office and win. Why hasn't that happened?
+1 Why isn’t Trump sending troops into the violent hellholes of Jackson, Birmingham, and St. Louis?
During the last decade, rural counties had a per-capita murder rate 37% higher than urban counties. It isn’t the cities themselves that cause red state crime. It’s poverty, lax gun laws, chronic underinvestment in schools and mental health care, and decades of Republican punitive justice/mass incarceration policies that don’t work and don’t address the root cause.
There are people being carjacked in DC neighborhoods where townhomes cost $1M+. Please show me a comparable rural area that’s that affluent where you have the same murder rate and crime problem in general.
Can you say the same for sex offender stats? Recently moved to a rural area with $1M+ homes only to have a sex offender who had served 20 years for multiple home invasions and rapes in Virginia move in. Less than a year later he was found stalking/following a teenager from the store. So much for rural safety.

Part of it is that when you live in a city, you know where and when not to be. A tourist may stumble into something, as the line between good and not-good can be a block thin in DC. The smug DC residents here probably don't ride the X2, or whatever its called now, after midnight for instance.
You don't have to be aware of hyper-local distinctions when you're in some MAGA town, so that's why they judge the whole city by its worst parts.
No, you have to be aware of KKKletus and his tribe looking out for strangers to "take care of"
Your head is filled with brainrot propaganda fantasies churned out by Hollywood. Rural Karens may hector outsiders from time to time but they don't rob/murder/rape like what happens in the inner cities.

Is it just that they’re watching news max or Fox all day long?

Why are all these “woke” Dems always drawing attention to how dangerous cities are with predominantly AA populations? Isn’t that called a dog whistle?
