I'm pp and just reading the thread, OP you're right to worry and it's okay to post. Hang in there. There will be more openings for the Jan grads, so he needs to submit a dozen+ resumes a week. It's a numbers game.

Yes AND it's a terrible market. My 2024 grad had fantastic-in-practice-and-on-paper internships for two summers. He submitted 250+ applications from Oct 2023 - April 30 and got a dozen of those stupid asynchronous interviews. Otherwise, he had one interview and one job offer. Great job and salary, but they aren't handing out jobs like they were when we graduated in the mid-90s.

Well from what I gather magas are farmers and oil workers so their jobs will be safe.
The social media manager job at a wellness start up? Not so much.
Farmers are not "safe" JD Vance & Theil are buying up all their foreclosed properties at a fraction of what they are worth.
What is this bromance between these two? Theil could have plucked somebody else from the gutter with less questionable bio.

Basically, not only do they want to change society to make it dictator-led. They want to give power to the corps, not to the people. They want skeleton crews working for pennies with no benefits or injury protections. They want to burn the country to the ground, and then they will buy it back pennies on the $. JD Vance and Theil already have a company doing just that.
MAGA ie, Republicans own the House & the Senate they are 100% responsible for the loss of jobs and heading to AI ie machines get jobs, people do not.

China doesn’t want you, you need to be 25-35 not married or not planning to have kids to get a job. Yes, HR will ask you those questions during interview. And good jobs with WLB are reserved for party members only.

And i'm not covering it all... Pile on outsourcing (300k jobs a year) and offshoring (over 2 million in India alone). Wake up - this is a huge problem.
H-1B has just become a shorthand for the problem.
Fyi, we approved 140k H-1Bs last year cuz universities and nonprofits are 'uncapped'.

India has had a population explosion over the last 20 years that has dwarfed China’s, and they have more people than all of N. And S. America and Europe and Africa together. Nearly impossible to wrap your mind around but here we are.

My kid has a job after graduating with a CS degree. He applied to around 200 jobs. Some of these jobs were just ghost fake jobs. But, jobs are there.
