Yep. I don’t battle over this stuff. DD knows she can pay for it with her own money. She’s experimented with different nail approaches, almost all of which I think look ridiculous and are a waste of money. But I keep my mouth shut. It’s her money she’s made with her own work. She gets tired of the upkeep eventually and moves on.

Lol. You can get a box of semi cured gels off amazon for 8-9 if you watch for a sale. That gets you two manicures that don’t take much time to apply. Some of you guys I guess just hate anything nail related.


The daughter can go ahead and buy that! I don't understand when it became parents responsibility to purchase makeup, fancy skincare products, balayage and nails for their teen daughters. Those were the things we all blew our babysitting money on.


Yes agreed but maybe OP needs to steer her in the right direction. She may not know of all the other options.

I said no to fake nails at the start of middle school and luckily my DD hasn’t brought it up since.

Stick ons! Ohora stick ons. They have a little curing lamp, they look great and they’re easy to remove. Semi gel, or whatever.

It’s just a waste of time.


I like my nails to look nice and a pretty color or design adds a bit of joy to my life. 30 minutes every week and a half is worth it to me.
