My DD gets $200 a month too. We pay for textbooks, flights home at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and a full meal plan. The $200 a month pays for everything else. We'll give her a ski pass for her birthday next month.
you realize kids go out in college on the weekends for dinner maybe drinks etc...? that is barely covering 3-4 days a month. if you can afford it I would reconsider.

seriously? poor kid. how does he afford to go out and have fun with friends? I would say at least 100 per week.
(DP) We give our DD a similar amount, and she does all of that; she just pays for it using an on-campus job and internship savings.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Wow. DS in Chicago gets $200 per month. I feel like that's generous.

meal plan), transportation, and her extras like clothing, hair & nails, entertainment, etc. We fund everything else. So far, since August she’s spent all of it each month and doesn’t have anymore left by the end of the month. Our older kids, all boys, got the same amount of money, but there was always a lot left over every month. To me, $1500 is more than enough so, I believe she’s overspending. How much is your DD getting per month?

$1,500 is more monthly play money than I get as an adult. I can’t imagine giving a teen that much.
