I will never have an uncluttered house. We're 4 people in 1200 sq ft and a basement. Very little closet space. I would love a larger house but my husband has hoarding tendencies and I'm afraid he's just going to accumulate more stuff.

My house will never look like some of my friends' houses that are just... empty. Like staged photos of homes for sale. Where is their stuff???

It’s me and my husband in a 700 sq foot condo and everyone always remarks how it always looks staged. How? My mom was a hoarder. I throw things out immediately if they haven’t been used (or put on marketplace, etc).

Ever regretted something or had to buy it again?

Not PP but I’m a super thrower outer.

I never regret it if it’s something I might have to buy again it’s really not that big of a deal. I’m not throwing out $500 items.

The only minor regret I have is that I gave away my son’s Pokémon cards he was bummed, but in the end, it wasn’t really a big deal.

How do you give away something that isn’t yours?

How do you store every single item your kids have? I mean cmon. We all have to help them purge! If left up to my children we would never part with anything.

Another DP and agreed. It's also important to help your kids get rid of stuff so they understand how to do it. My husband comes from a hoarder family and it's no way to live. Even aside from the practical issues, I think there is something unhealthy about being unable to let go of material items you aren't using and never will. My MIL has thousands of magazines she will never look at, for instance (they belonged to my FIL, who is deceased). We have offered to help her recycle them but she says "oh I don't know, I might use them one day" and won't do it. So her living room is full of stacks of magazines that haven't been looked at in decades. It's sad. I don't want my kid to be like that.

That was a funny post OP. 😝

I used to be that way when I had younger children but now that they are adults & I live alone - - I actually do get all of my laundry done, folded ➕ put away once a wk.

Trust me…..you will get there one of these days I promise you!
