About 30% for us and we both work full time. 3 kids in private, each about 50k. Make too much for aid, so here we are. We manage but have very little cushion- no fancy cars, clothes, but otherwise no regrets as it is working well for our kids.

The stats actually do support that a ton of people in the region make over $1M. HHI top 1% in DC is 1.24M as of 2025. That alone is 7,000 households in DC proper alone and that's *just* HHI -- that doesn't take into account those who have family money and for whom HHI is irrelevant. And then you add in Maryland and Virginia and you have thousands of families for whom HHI is over $1M, many of whom frequent DCUM.
Separate this by age, family size and boil it down to the homes that have school aged children. Maybe if you're lucky there are 1000 households. Assume each of those has 1.5 children. There are approximately 20k students in DC enrolled in private school. That means at those schools 7-8% are in that bucket - yet SO MANY RESPONDERS say they are in that bucket. It just doesn't add up. Like 40% of this board says they make 7 figures. If they do that that big job, why are they here posting?
.... but the number is smaller because not all those houses send their kids to private school. Maybe if you include the grandparents paying you can get to 7%, but the family themselves aren't that wealthy.

+1 on stats not favoring this many people making multi-millions. That said, I really do have a very big job and spend too much time on this board even during work hours

The large majority of private schools in the US are Catholic or Christian, and those cost roughly half what a true independent cost. Taking that into account, some of the percentages are more plausible. That said, it is still a stretch for most.
We make over 5 million/year, so yes. And there are many people like us and many who make much more…
