As a former prosecutor I find the charges ridiculous and shameful. Feds can only charge felonies. So any arrest for anything is a felony. Hopefully most people will choose a trial by jury. It is our duty as citizens to use jury nullification on any and all cases brought by any federal law enforcement.

That is correct everywhere else, but not in DC. The US Attorney prosecutes all levels of crimes in DC, including misdemeanors. The US Attorney is the prosecutor for the people of DC, and should have exercised discretion to file this as a misdemeanor. They are overreaching not to force a plea, but to make a political point - but it’s an embarrassment considering Jan 6 and the pardons that followed.
