I don't think any of the council members have a property more than a quarter acre. If they had larger properties with twenty or thirty oak trees, like some of us do, they would have a better understanding what's required to clean up the yard.

I understand the noise and pollution concerns, but I live up county on 7 acres and plan to continue to use my gas powered leaf blower a few weekends in the fall to clean up leaves. No one is going to hear or see it. When it breaks, I will look at battery ones. What makes sense for Silver Spring doesn't necessarily make sense everywhere else. I think that's the problem with the law. There should have been exceptions for large properties.

The best one costs three grand and I don't see these lawn companies buying them. Especially if you have eight gas blowers and you have to buy eight battery type blowers.

We used to rake leaves as a fundraiser with church teenagers, but now everyone has a lawn service. I think there will be people to rake.

I saw a diesel truck running while the people were cutting the customer's grass. I asked them why is that truck running. Its loud and polluting the air with diesel fumes. They said the truck has an invertor in it to transform the engine power to the invertor to charge their batteries for their tools and they have to let the truck run all day.

What a great idea to charge the batteries. That seems to be the major complaint with these battery type leaf blowers.

I think ICE will probably arrest all the lawn service people and there won't be anyone availavilble to work in MOCO.

I noticed the lawn service we have was blowing the grass clippings and leaves out towards the street with the commercial mowers they have. I asked them why and they said they can't use their leaf blower in Montgomery County so they use the mower and pretty much leave everything in the street for the wind to blow them away. I guess everyone will be doing that.
