Be careful with the New School. Their budget/finances aren’t great.
Also, check out FIT. If you are a NYS resident, cheap! Still a good deal if you are out of state.
Just a note about the full pay ...
My kid got into NYU with a 3.0 unweighted, 3.5 weighted, in one of the arts. Had a full tuition scholarship too. Coursework was strong but really, it was all about the art.

Unless the portfolio is exceptional, a "B" student at RISD is rare. Full pay would help if applicable.
A B+ is usually required unless you have a top portfolio. RISD is all about talent in the creative fields.
DC is currently at RISD, and the kids who are admitted and enroll need to be able to pass their humanities and social science required courses (as well as math courses for those in architecture) while completing a very heavy studio work load. There's a decent amount of research and writing involved, so having only an excellent portfolio is not enough. RISD is not going to accept a kid who can't pass their required courses, which is why their average SAT scores and GPAs are unusually high for an art college. Kids need to be able to handle the academics with some ease so that they can focus on their art.
How does your kid like RISD?
Loves being surrounded by peers who are serious about art and are willing to work hard. It's not for every kid because the workload is intense, and it's hard not to feel intimidated, but for the right student, there are few better places to nurture your talent. College Hill and Brown only add to the experience.
