Uhm maybe the child was hungry and she had no money?
So she should steal?
If your child was starving, you would steal too.
Please. Literally no one’s kid is starving in the US. Especially no one’s in Whole Foods.
I know it probably alleviates any kind of feeling of guilt or compassion to say that. Instead, try to actually educate yourself on how many Americans live instead of making ignorant statements.
This isn’t Gaza. No one starving. Prove me wrong. We have the most obese poor people in the world.
Get out of your obnoxious bubble and try to do some good in the world instead of spewing ignorant shit.

Again, that doesn’t mean anyone is starving. Being able to meet “food needs of a family member” is subjective. Poor data. Show me data that shows starving underweight kids in the US

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:You followed her around the store to checkout? What's wrong with you?
Nothing wrong with that reaction. Maybe there's more to the story. Hunger, child abuse? What's the saying.. if you see something, say something. At minimum I certainly don't want to buy it after the kid stuck finger in there. The mom needs to be told not to let it happen.
Yes, there is something wrong with following someone around a store.
No kid put their finger in the food bar. The mother filled the cup and gave it to the kid. Did you seriously think a toddler reached up to a food bar? What’s wrong with you?

Oh great, here come the xenophobes. Reminder: foreigners tend to commit fewer crimes because they're afraid of being deported (and this has been true forever, not just because of Trump). It's the home-grown Americans who act with impunity.
They have different perspectives on etiquette and entitlement and don't view sampling from the hot bar as a crime.

10 chicken nuggets? That’s theft under $100.
So that’s a court date for the mom, the cop that was called, and the store manager. The paperwork at the court and the OT the cop gets for showing up cost more than 10 chicken nuggets.
If she doesn’t show up now a bench warrant gets issued, that warrant needs entering into ncic. It shows up on case search.
I had to enter a FTA bench warrant the other day for theft under $100 for a stolen Gatorade and chips. It was less than $10. But the store wanted to press charges. It’s so much work, time, and money wasted.

Anonymous wrote:Stealing has become so blatant that people who wouldn’t steal see so many people stealing and think- why am I the sucker who is paying for things. It becomes a slippery slope as more and more people steal.
So many people start rationalizing how it isn’t a big deal to steal. That kid is going to go to school thinking it’s fine to steal at school and other places too.
People also think- who cares that the store doesn’t get paid since it’s a corporation. The issue is the executives and shareholders are still making money, they just raise prices so that honest poor and middle class people suffer.
