My nieces and nephew only had school Mon-Thur in their AZ district. It was done to cut costs so they could increase teacher pay to entice more people apply. I think my SIL said it's a 3-year trial program, but it didn't yield the results they wanted this first year. My one niece in 4th grade had three different long-term subs instead of a permanent teacher.

She should have sent her kids to live with you and go to school here. That’s really piss poor public k-12 example. They have to get rid of the annual over-testing and the bland, full of errors common core curricula chosen. So horrible.

DP... I think it's pretty amazing that some of you think somehow kids don't spread diseases. Snot bubbles, touching everything with sticky fingers everywhere and so on. It's an absolute fact that COVID contact tracing data showed that schools were among the top places where COVID was being spread. Clearly some of are either completely unobservant to the realities of life and human nature where it comes to little kids, either that or you grew up and still live isolated in your mom's basement.

It's one thing to live with whatever grows in the snot bubbles of our kids, but why do we import the viruses from snot bubbles in India, South Africa, Mexico? Not that I am particularly convinced that kids pose that much of threat, it just seems your chain of reasoning and rationalization isn't very good. Why are you so worried about my kids, what about the ones in China, don't they have couddies too? Then there were the rich people across town who didn't care and were paying for all kinds of private lessons for their kids.

I was told in the AAP forum that being first is not important. It is too toxic to focus on things like test scores.
