I am really struggling to get through Atmosphere (audiobook version) but the reviews are all so good?!

My audible app suggested it after I listened to the wedding people, which was not high brow but enjoyable. And the reviews were uniformly high on the app.

Maybe it's the format? All the in space suspense seems so unrealistic and drawn out and the romance so slow and painful.

I am finding it so overwrought. The

The series is about a 30 year old woman named May who was formerly married to a rich guy. The ex husband ripped off a bunch of people and went to prison. All their possessions were repossessed except for an RV and a campground in Kentucky. May moves to the campground and lives in the RV there. People keep dying in every book and she keeps solving the murders.
The books are poorly edited and the titles don't seem to have much to do with the topic of each book, but I keep listening to them because they are each only about 4 hours long and the stories march right along quickly. I can listen to an entire book in a day or two just while preparing dinner each day.
The author has written a lot of books. She seems to write a new book in about the same amount of time it takes me to write a grocery list.

I searched the author on Libby and 90 audiobooks came up! I borrowed the first one in the series as it sounds perfect for when I need something light.

Amazing! Lots of twists you won't see coming!

No it’s awful.

A couple weeks ago I decided to get in line on the Libby website for my library for this book, since many on here have mentioned that they enjoyed it. Libby said I was number 168 in line to be able to access the book and it would be a 14 week wait. Then, 4 days ago Libby said I could skip to the front of the line right away, but only if I keep the book for one week only. Of course I downloaded it, but I am pretty busy this week and I am almost resenting this 12 hour long book just because it feels like yet another obligation on my list of things that need to get done.

So far I have listened to about 2 hours of it. I am at the part where they are waiting for room service to bring them some dental floss.

The book is about a woman who checks into a hotel and finds that she is the only guest at the hotel who is not part of a wedding party.

Ok please help me out- I waited forever to get this book on Libby because a blogger I like recommended it and the idea was interesting but I stopped reading it because I couldn’t handle the constant talk about suicide in the first couple chapters (lost a loved one to suicide many years ago but it’s still tough). Does that stay a major part of the story? It seemed really well written so I kind of wanted to skip ahead and see if I could handle it but my loan expired before I got tough enough to that.

She gives up on that notion after less than 24 hours at the hotel. She ends up spending a week at the hotel.

Thank you! I may try again.

Long Island by Colm Toibin. I’m halfway through—enjoying, but I liked Brooklyn better.

I just finished Olga dies dreaming, which was a little different for me but I really enjoyed it. It’s about a woman in NY grappling with her heritage and her families struggles. A little romance too.

I loved The Wager and Orbital.

I've just started All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker, which I got as a skip the line kindle book in libby.

I have been listening to a cheesy cozy mystery series by Tonya Kappes.
The series is about a 30 year old woman named May who was formerly married to a rich guy. The ex husband ripped off a bunch of people and went to prison. All their possessions were repossessed except for an RV and a campground in Kentucky. May moves to the campground and lives in the RV there. I finished "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow".
It is about a male and female who play video games together as adolescents, then design video games together as adults.
I thought it was okay. Meh.

Skip it and finish another time. It's the kind of book you can listen to leisurely - no complicated plot, limited characters, and not heavy.

I did end up finishing the book. I liked it.
The book reminded me of those early days when we were first "allowed" outside of our homes again after COVID lockdown times. I remember feeling the same as the main character in the book when it came to socializing with others face to face. It felt weird to converse with others, and it felt weird that it felt weird.

Storyteller reader here. I had heard that the audiobook was great. Thanks for the Grace Jones suggestion. Again, my what I would sully gravitate towards, but am now curious to read another musicians memoire.
