Maybe she is worried that her young teen is alone at home unsupervised? At best, kid might be playing video games all day but could be getting into bad things. Young teens needs supervision or at least something constructive to do during the day. sleep away camp or volunteering or swim team? Something.

She should stop supporting her workaholic spouse who can’t even check on his kid who’s sitting around all day in the same house as him, and go take a volatile demanding job that pays more.

Then they can split 50/50 all the family and household demands and weekend fun. And stop this bean counter rhetoric OP has- whose money pays for what and if she quits her favorite stuff ceases to be purchased.
