Many of us think our country is worth fighting for. You should leave. We don't want or need you. Ask the folks in Gaza/Isreal if they feel Palestine/Isreal is worth fighting for? My guess is you will get mixed responses there too - just like you and I differ. I strongly feel we can improve our country and although flawed it is the best country for me. If you disagree leave. You deserve happiness and clearly cannot find it here. We won't miss you.

Plenty. But it's not without problems. The UK replaces gun crime with chavs armed with knives. And they all live on top of each other. Knife crime is really bad in countries that lack guns. Knives kill fewer people, I suppose. Really, the question you should be asking is where can you go where mental health is treated and its associated impact is low. Canada? Finland? Netherlands? I really don't know - but those countries are doing it better than we are and they have very different gun laws - better health services though.

Whatever are you in about? Plenty of countries offer the same or better opportunities. Denmark, Sweden and Finland all rank higher than the US in the Global Opportunity Index created by the Milken Institute. And I would venture their flaws pale compared to the structural issues plaguing this country.

Agree.
Opportunities are better there. They've had tighter immigration policies and are wealthy due to natural resources per capita. We've let our population explode and now we have the problems associated with that. I do still think we are the best though. They don't have the same individualistic culture that makes is more innovative, for example. But if you are after a high quality version of mediocrity- Scandinavian countries are the best!

Indeed it does. That's why we have limits of those kinds of visas. Academics are open-minded until you touch their research dollars.
If you "touch" their research dollars, they can't do their work. Even open minded people need money to pursue their expertise.

I've lived in 6 countries, and ALL, even the ones that have never been world powers go around with pride thumping their chest as you put it.

Far fewer job opportunities for the ambitious, salaries are typically much lower. Very unwelcoming to non natives. Not to mention long, dark, depressing winters.
I love Denmark but I'm not kidding myself either. There are virtues to Denmark, if you are Danish, and there are virtues to the US. And especially if you're not a "native" American.
